NDP pre-election campaign shares Horwath’s positive vision for a premier that chooses you

ETOBICOKE — The Ontario NDP is launching a pre-election campaign, including ads in which Leader Andrea Horwath describes her positive vision for a premier who chooses people.

“This past year we’ve learned what really matters in our lives. And what government does, or doesn’t do, also matters,” Horwath says in the ads, which show her speaking from the heart, directly to camera. “We’ve seen bad choices with devastating consequences.

“Imagine instead, a premier that chooses you. Who protects workers. Who stands up for local businesses, not big box stores. Who, instead of cutting, invests in health care and our kids. That’s what matters to me.”

The ads are called What Matters, and Ontario NDP Campaign Director Michael Balagus said they’re designed to get people to think about the difference between Horwath, Doug Ford and Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca.

“The three leaders have different values, and very different priorities,” said Balagus. “These are hopeful ads that share Andrea’s positive vision for a government that’s in it for working folks and regular families. They’ll get people thinking about how we don’t have to have governments that cut, or favour big businesses over local companies. Instead of big cuts and bad choices, they can choose a premier that’s in it for average people.

“We are the only party whose leader is an asset, not a liability, and these ads show that off.”

The pre-election campaign will run through summer and fall, and will include local events and advertising — including in-person events when public health rules and guidelines allow.
